The Office of Information Management Technology (OIMT) provides information technology and telecommunication support and services primarily to offices and staff for the Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs (AS-IA), the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) organizations and locations throughout the Nation. The OIMT consists of 125 full time federal staff and additional contractor staff and manages the complex and diverse Information Technology infrastructure for the Indian Affairs federal workforce of 9000+ employees located in urban and rural areas throughout the country, and approximate 20 Education Line Offices and 64 BIE-operated schools located throughout the country.
We are seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to support the efforts at the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Support includes writing or dictating fast enough to follow meetings, interviews (etc.) with OIMT staff and vendor discussions as appropriate.
Research information and identify essential or pertinent information. Suggest or propose ways to structure or classify multiple pieces of information or reorganize information to convey a better message.
Create and document procedures, memoranda, design documents, requirements documents, and email notifications. Maintain and update documentation of system specifications, database definition/specifications, field-site end-user manuals and other designated OIMT documentation or on-line
Information. Other examples include product instructions, reference and maintenance manuals, articles, project proposals, training materials, technical reports, and Web pages.
The Contractor shall meet with programmers and subject matter experts to gain understanding of application, database and web development and to define the scope of documentation required.
The Contractor shall interview subject matter experts (SME) and document their knowledge in a written format to be understood by a non-subject matter expert or as defined by OIMT staff leads.
Experience: A minimum of four (4) years applicable experience in developing IT and Program related documentation, reports and manuals.
Knowledge: Able to capture in sufficient detail and discussion minutes and action items for technical meetings, interviews with professional IT developers and teams. Experience with Microsoft Office products and capable of performing editing and other document correction activities. Must have the ability to Inspect and evaluate the quality of products, and knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Experience working with Google Docs. Converting from Word to Google and vice versa.
Security Clearance Requirements:
