Location: Austin, TX
Seeking a full-time Training Specialist to develop and conduct applications training for end users.
Responsibilities include planning, organizing, developing, producing and delivering training content, both synchronous and asynchronous, as well as assisting in the development of other training documentation, such as Quick Guides and Help documents. Teamwork, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are needed to succeed in this project and environment. Ideal candidate will take initiative on specific training development and documentation tasks.
Review current materials to determine whether the content is sufficient to meet existing or modified requirements of customer, and, if required, make changes.
Research, develop, and publish new training content, as needed.
Format training materials and documents in accordance with department standards.
As assigned, review, rewrite, edit, and assist in the development of documents being prepared by others.
Maintain appropriate interface with technical experts to ensure timely receipt of source material.
Work closely and cooperatively with technical experts to identify any current or anticipated problems that could have a detrimental effect on training quality or delivery.
Keep supervisor informed of status of work in progress as well as any circumstances that could negatively impact quality or on-time delivery of content.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical material with accuracy, clarity, and efficiency. Solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Windows, WebEx; familiarity with Adobe Captivate or similar training development tools. Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, accuracy, and the willingness to research technical information and meet with subject matter experts as needed. Organized, dependable, adaptable, and able to work effectively and amiably under the pressure of multiple projects, and tight deadlines. Prior experience should include writing end-user software documents, direct contact with customers, and developing/delivering end user training. Strong ability to identify and use appropriate resources for creating and delivering content. Ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate them effectively to users with varying levels of technical aptitude. Must be comfortable interfacing with customers online.
Desired Skills: Prior teaching or training experience; experience in a customer support environment. Some familiarity with Microsoft Manual of Style for Technical Communications. Ability to learn quickly and take initiative in the development/delivery of new training. Familiarity with Learning Management systems and online training programs (e.g., WebEx or Adobe Connect).
