The Role: Tesla Technical Training Instructor - FundamentalsThis position requires someone who is flexible, highly organized, and hard working. Individuals should have a passion for and understanding of personal development through the training process. Must have outstanding communication, presentation and organizational skills while demonstrating a positive, motivational, and professional appearance. The Tesla Technical Training Instructor position will be involved in an educational setting, instructing Apprentices and lower level Maintenance Technician's in the electrical Fundamentals. Instructor should have experience, expertise, and the ability to effectively instruct the application of Electrical Fundamentals in an Industrial setting. Instructors will provide support to students and fellow staff members, work in a lab setting providing hands-on instruction with safety in mind, keep accurate records of student achievement, and an ability to maintain discipline in a classroom setting.Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Prepare instructional material from the curriculum that is to be covered in class and review weekly lessons, quizzes, tests and labs and come prepared to teach on time. Strives to motivate students and facilitate learning by creating a positive environment.Develop basic and advanced technical content on a wide variety of material. Examples include; basic and advanced electrical systems and components, electrical measurement, Print reading, troubleshooting, ladder logic, PLC systems, Variable Frequency Drives and conveyers.Deliver Technical Training courses in classroom and field settings using a variety of presentation formats including Instructor Led, Facilitative group learning, active hands-on learning and functional assessments.Knowledge of: methods, techniques, parts, tools and materials used in the maintenance and repair of all auto manufacturing electrical equipment and processes.Designs and ensures that the required minimum laboratory exercises are conducted each module.Uses instructional media such as audio-visual (video, PowerPoint, YouTube, etc.) and hands on equipment.Administers quizzes, test, gives homework and reading assignments to meet at least the minimum requirements set forth by Instructor and Student Policy.Assure that grades and attendance are recorded and are issued to the Apprenticeship Coordinator in accordance with Apprenticeship and Instructor/ Policies and Procedures.Counsel and advise apprentices regarding use of absences, poor classroom performance and other issues pertinent to their success in the apprenticeship program.RequirementsExtensive experience with mechatronic systems in manufacturing settings to include basic and advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, mechanical teardown and reassembly.Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC experience a plus.Extensive presentation skills with diverse advanced technical content as described above.Strong ability to work and communicate effectively with team and peers within the Training, Maintenance and Engineering organizations.Strong analytical problem solving skills and hands-on experience with hardware, tools, instruments, and methods applicable to manufacturing robotics processes.Able to read and interpret electrical schematics.Experience with environmental and safety requirements including the NFPA70E.Strong ability to work in cross functional groups from diverse technical and experience backgrounds.Skilled with common workplace and database software (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)Ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment.Occasional travel (approximately 10% annually) to develop emerging content on new equipment used in the manufacturing process.Familiarity with Objective based training theory, ADDIE process and functional assessment settings a plus.Familiarity or expertise with Learning Management Systems a plus.Preform other duties as assigned.The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on maintenance or engineering experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with expertise in a wide variety of technical subjects specializing in electrical systems. This subject matter expert will have a passion for teaching others and achieving excellence through instruction and mentoring programs.
