DESCRIPTION / OPPORTUNITYThe real estate market is undergoing a significant and exciting transformation - driven by data and technology. Thus, the Vice President of Data Science and Analytics role is a critical component of CBRE's mission. The role reports to the SVP of Strategy and Business Transformation. This person will manage a team of high caliber data scientists and business analysts. This role will combine a subject-matter expert knowledge of techniques in data science with solid business acumen to unlock value within the commercial real estate ecosystem. This person will provide inputs into CBRE's continual evolution in data stewardship and applications towards superior client outcomes. The ideal candidate must be willing to lead critical projects whilst managing a diverse group of stakeholders and multiple priorities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES* Define approaches towards, and lead, complex and cross-functional analytical projects leveraging advanced computational algorithms
* Manage and grow a industry-leading team of data scientists and business analysts in multiple geographies
* Develop custom algorithms for solving complex real estate business problems across a wealth of structured and unstructured data across multiple data sources
* Use relevant knowledge of computer science fundamentals, distributed computing and machine learning to help build scalable analytical solutions
* Provide significant input into opportunities in better serving clients with data science and analytics
* Partner with data engineering team, technology architects and software developers to empower our lines of businesses with robust business intelligence
* Drive select special projects end-to-end - from outlining the type of solution through implementation, interpretation of results and internal capability handoffs

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS* Masters or Ph.D. degree from top tier school in computer science or related degree
* 10+ years of subject matter expertise in data science and business analytics
* Excellent track record of people leadership and cultivating talent
* Enjoys working on complex and exciting problems, with high-velocity and multi-dimensional information across multiple sources
* Strong practical experience with NLP, statistical analysis, deep learning, event stream processing, neural networks, predictive and sentiment analytics, data engineering and scripting / programming across a variety of environments
* Familiarity with a variety of tools including languages (R, Python, Scala, C++), databases (T-SQL, Postgresql, NoSql, etc.), Machine learning tools (e.g., Apache Mahout, Apache Spark MLib, Scikit-Learn, etc), deep learning (e.g., Google TensorFlow, Apache Singa, etc.) and IDEs (e.g., RStudio, Anaconda, PyCharm, MS SQL Server Management Studio, etc.)
* Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and database architecture
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
* Strong track record of career advancement and successful management of high performing teams
* Demonstrated self-direction and open-mindedness in teaching others and learning new techniques
