You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference.Job SummaryAs the VP of Performance and Data Engineering within Infrastructure and Cloud Services (ICS), you will lead an organization responsible for the design, engineering, and support of Travelers' infrastructure & application monitoring, performance & capacity planning, big data & analytics, as well as web and API platforms. In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing the automated and self-service delivery of on-premise and public cloud infrastructure and services in support of business intelligence & analytics workloads and priorities. The successful candidate will drive and foster collaboration across architecture, development organizations/teams, and infrastructure teams toward the common goal of delivering highly reliable, scalable, and automated services. The leader of Performance and Data Engineering will help engineer, build, and implement an infrastructure data platform designed to transition from a reactive and symptom focused, to a predictive/anomaly focused approach to problem identification and remediation. In addition, the successful candidate will help democratize infrastructure, application, and performance data to enable readily consumable and correlated insights for faster and more accurate problem remediation and end user experience tuning. Understand and manage the data needs of different stakeholders across multiple business verticals
Drive timely, high-quality execution of team deliverables while promoting engineering standards and best practices
Experience in load, stress, availability, and capacity testing and performance methods
Understand end to end data management interactions and dependencies across complex data pipelines and data transformation and how they impact business decisions
Design best practices for big data processing, data modeling and enterprise data warehouse development
Leadership qualities include fostering teamwork and trust, exhibiting respectful and transparent communication, demonstrating collaboration both with their peers and across Tech & Ops, supporting and lead change, and fostering diversity and inclusiveness
Minimum QualificationsMinimum of 7 years of progressive work experience in the technology space and a minimum of 4 years of people management experience required.Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, advanced degree a plus
10+ years of experience including 5+ managing and developing engineering teams
Experience with agile development practices/methodologies
Application performance and capacity management experience
Experience managing and supporting public cloud-based platforms
Job Specific & Technical Skills & CompetenciesTechnical knowledge: Experience and technical expertise in multiple engineering disciplines including, but not limited to: end-user computing, mobility, video conferencing, broadcast TV, unified communications & collaboration (including the full Microsoft tool suite) and content management solutions across the enterprise. Experience and expertise with Agile & DevOps methodologies and tools. Able to evaluate market and industry trends within related technical domains.
