You will find Travelers to be full of energy and a workplace in which you truly can make a difference.Job SummaryAs the VP of Platform Engineering within Infrastructure and Cloud Services (ICS), you will lead an organization responsible for the design, engineering, and support of Travelers' Linux, Windows, storage, database, mainframe, and virtual compute/network platforms. As the leader of Platform Engineering you will help ensure the automated, self-service, and end to end delivery of our platforms and services using infrastructure as code and agile delivery methodologies. The successful candidate will have a strong focus on the operational stability, performance, efficiency, audit/control management, and scalability of our core platforms. In addition, you will have a strong alignment with our line of business CIO organizations to ensure the infrastructure platforms proactively support application delivery priorities, performance, redundancy, and capacity requirements. Strong communication, collaboration, and technical service management skills are required to ensure a coordinated and focused approach to problem identification and resolution. The leader of Platform Engineering will also be responsible for contributing to the design, implementation, and support of our public cloud workloads and strategy.Marketing DescriptionVP, Platform EngineeringPrimary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Experience with modern technologies, architectures and agile development methods, and are comfortable operating in complex, fast-moving environments
Able to build and lead high-functioning teams and can help attract, develop, and retain top engineering talent
Develop and implement the operational tools and processes necessary to improve reliability. This includes the deployment and maintenance of infrastructure as well as a best practice approach to the diagnosis and remediation of issues
Implementation of a best practice continuous improvement process that includes incident analysis, prioritizing and implementing improvements, and ongoing emphasis on automation and prevention
Leadership qualities include fostering teamwork and trust, exhibiting respectful and transparent communication, demonstrating collaboration both with their peers and across Tech & Ops, supporting and lead change, and fostering diversity and inclusiveness
Minimum QualificationsMinimum of 7 years of progressive work experience in the technology space and a minimum of 4 years of people management experience required.Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, advanced degree a plus
10+ years of experience including 5+ managing and developing engineering teams
Experience with agile development practices/methodologies
Experience developing and supporting public cloud-based platforms
Job Specific & Technical Skills & CompetenciesTechnical knowledge: Experience and technical expertise in multiple engineering disciplines including, but not limited to: end-user computing, mobility, video conferencing, broadcast TV, unified communications & collaboration (including the full Microsoft tool suite) and content management solutions across the enterprise. Experience and expertise with Agile & DevOps methodologies and tools. Able to evaluate market and industry trends within related technical domains.
